The brave girl

So, today I had my second day on the ward. This week they started to operate on children with cataract (they are basically blind...). These little ones really touched my heart! Imagine you feel a little three year old's hand on our lap, and she is reaching for you with her arms wide open. So you lift her up and hold her on your hip. She's clinging to you with her feets around you waist and her arms around your neck and she rests her head on your shoulder. When you try to put her down she just get a stronger grip around you and its impossible to let go. Then she gets her pre-op eye-drops which stings and makes her cry for quite a while... but then she's back again, reaching out for your hand, wanting to be close. The trust this little brave girl showed me today is something extraordinary. She could not see me, nor did she understand my language. Still so trusting and brave! And the best of it is that tomorrow I will be back on the ward again and she will be back from her surgery. I will look her in her eyes and hopefully she will be able look back in mine. Gods is really working in this place through crew and patients! So blessed to be here!
Im unfortunately not allowed to post a picture of this girl,
instead I give you this cool guy playing guitar on deck 7
while watching other guys playing football in the port.
